Generation and Flow Characteristics of Carbon Dioxide Hydrates at Different Water Contents

Abstract: The generation, aggregation and clogging of hydrates in multiphase mixed pipelines have caused great safety hazards for deep-sea oil and gas field development and oil and gas pipeline transportation. A comprehensive understanding of the generation and flow characteristics of hydrates in pipelines is of great significance for hydrate prevention and control. In this paper, a high-pressure hydrate recirculation flow loop device was used to conduct experiments on the compounding of polyvinylpyrrolidone and glycol phenyl ether, and to compare the effects of different water contents on the induction time of hydrate generation, hydrate volume fraction, and inhibitor and synergist inhibitory performance under the experimental conditions of 3.0 MPa and 3.4 MPa. The experimental results showed that the hydrate induction time was gradually shortened with the increase of water content, and the presence of oil phase could weaken the inhibition performance of kinetic inhibitor and synergist composite system.
