Synthesis Process of 5-Methoxytryptamine

Abstract: The construction of methoxytryptamine was completed by using serotonin as reactant and methylomethane iodide as methylation reagent, and the methodology of the reaction was studied. The synthesis process of this compound is as follows: First, 5-hydroxytryptamine and di-tert-butyl dicarbonate react at room temperature to produce the Boc-protected 5-HT intermediate; then, under the action of potassium carbonate, this intermediate reacts with methyl iodide to obtain Boc protected 5-methyltryptamine; the Boc protecting group is then hydrolyzed with hydrochloric acid, followed by post-treatment to yield the target product with a yield of around 81%.
