Preparation of Monodisperse Micron-Sized PMMA/PGMA Microspheres

Abstract: Monodisperse poly(methyl methacrylate) (PMMA) microspheres (3.8 μm in diameter) were synthesized via dispersion polymerization. These seed particles were then used to prepare uniform crosslinked PMMA/poly(glycidyl methacrylate) (PGMA) microspheres through a one-step swelling method. The results showed that PMMA/PGMA microspheres exhibited a narrow size distribution, with the dominant peak in laser particle size analysis at around 5.5 μm.
