Structural Characterization and Dispersion Effect of Tahe Asphaltene before and after Aging

Abstract: Elemental analysis (EA), gel permeation chromatography (GPC) and proton nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy ( 1 H NMR) were used to analyze Tahe asphaltene before and after aging. A salicylic acid polyisobutylene succinimide dispersant was synthesized using polyisobutylene succinic anhydride and 4-Aminosalicylic acid as raw materials. The dispersing performance of this dispersant on Tahe asphaltene before and after aging was investigated. The differences in dispersing performance were analyzed from the perspective of the molecular structure of the asphaltenes. It was found that the dispersing efficiency of Tahe asphaltene before aging was superior to that after aging. The results of dispersing tests were analyzed in terms of the total base number and particle size distribution of the asphaltenes, aiming to explore the dispersing effect and mechanism of the salicylic acid polyisobutylene succinimide dispersant on asphaltenes.
