Synthesis Process of 4-Methoxybiphenyl

Abstract: The synthesis of 4-methoxybiphenyl was studied, using 4-methoxyiodobenzene and boronic acid pinacol ester as raw materials, the intermediate product 2-(4-methoxyphenyl)-4,4,5,1,3,2-dioxolane was synthesized, and then the intermediate reacted with iodobenzene to obtain the desired substance, which was analyzed by methodology. The optimal synthesis conditions for this compound were as follows: intermediates, iodobenzene, potassium acetate, and palladium diacetate were added in a sealed tube, and then methanol solvent was also added, the reaction was carried out under argon atmosphere at 80 °C for 3 h, and after post-treatment, 4-methoxybiphenyl was obtained in 83% yield.
