Several Issues Needing Attention in Cultivar Selection of Fresh-eating Apricots in Shanxi Province

Abstract：Shanxi Provincefeaturesatypical plateaulandform，withmostof tsterrtorycovered bymountainsand hils.It has atemperatecontinental monsoon climate，characterizedbydry winters and springs aswellasseverecoldin winter.Under suchnaturalconditions，mostfruit trees aredificult tocultivateonalargescale.Apricottrees，however，areamong the few fruittree speciesadaptableto theseconditions，thus becoming the most widelydistributedandlong-cultivatedfruit tres in Shanxi.Nevertheless，inmodern fruittreecultivation，thecultivationoffresheating apricots rarelyachieves higheconomic benefits.Theprimaryfactorrestrictingthehighbenefitsoffresh-eatingapricots isinappropriatecultivarselection.Inviewof this situation，Thekey points thatshouldbe noted incultivarselectionforfresh-eating apricot planting，mainlyincluding four aspects：selecting firm-fleshed cultivars，choosing those with good disease resistance，pickingcracking-resistantcultivars，and opting for late frost-resistant cultivars，are summarized in this paper to provide references for growers.

山西属于典型的高原地貌，境内大多为山地和丘陵，平地面积不足 20% ，海拔多在 1500～2000m 气候上属于温带大陆性季风气候，冬春干旱和冬季严寒是其主要的气候特征，平均降水量 400～ 600mm ，且多集中在7月一9月，冬季漫长，寒冷干燥，1月平均气温在- -10～3∘C ，极端低温达到零下一 30∘C 以下。（剩余1736字）
