A Comparative Study on the Effectiveness of Two Graduation Internship Modes and Students’ Satisfaction in Preventive Medicine

Abstract: Objective To compare the efectiveness of two graduation internship modes for Preventive Medicine major in a university and investigate students’satisfaction with different intermship modes and different types of internship bases.Methods Undergraduate graduates majoring in Preventive Medicine from the 2022 to 2O25 cohorts were taken as the research objects,and data were collected through a questionnaire survey. Results The employment rate of students under the off-campus intemship mode was 42.3% , significantly higher than that of students under the on-campus teaching and research ofice mode,which was (204号 27.2% . In contrast, the further study rate under the on-campus teaching and research ofice mode was
66.9% ,higher than that under the off-campus internship mode,which was 48.8%(χ2=11.041,P= 0.004).Students’satisfaction with both internship modes was generally high.The of-campus intermship mode scored higher in the overal evaluation of intermship organization and management than the on-campus teaching and research office mode (t=2,035) , P=0.043 ). Meanwhile,the on-campus teaching and research office mode obtained higher satisfaction scores in terms of learning atmosphere ( t′=3.128 , P=0.002 and academic atmosphere ( ℓ=3.789 , P=0.001 ) compared with the off-campus internship mode. There were no statistically significant diferences in graduation internship satisfaction among graduates of different cohorts P>0.05 ).In terms of the effect of ability improvement,students under the on-campus teaching and research office mode showed a significant improvement in professional knowledge level ( t=2.804 , P= 0.005)and other aspects,while students under the of-campus internship mode had a more significant improvement in practical operation ability t′=3.253 , P=0.001 ). Conclusion The two internship modes have their own advantages,and universities can optimize the internship modes according to their actual conditions.
