Abstract：Thestudyof rural settlementcancontributetotheimprovementofthefunctionof productionliving-ecological spacesandthedevelopment of urbanization.Based on CiteSpace software，this paper analyzes 720 articles withthetitleof“ruralsettlements”from l998 to2022.Theresults showthat：First，the amount of published articles show obvious stage characteristics，and have gone through the emergence stage of attention，active stage of attention and migration stage of attention successively.Second，the academic teamsarecharacterizedby“clear-cut hierarchywithprominent core"，thepublishinginstitutions arecharacterized by“universities are the main ones，and famous universities are the dominant ones".Third，the frequencyand evolutionof keywords reveal a spiral research process.Although the research on domesticrural settlements has made great progress，there are still some gaps comparedwith foreign research.Inithe future， wecanfocusonthefollowingaspects：First，Deepeningresearchontheintrinsicmechanismsofrural settlementreconstructionfromsocio-cultural perspectives.Second，Strengthening studies onrural settlementevolutionundermulti-stakeholdercollaborationandpolicyscenarios.Third，Emphasizingsystematicgovernance mechanisms for the human environment in rural settlements.Foruth，expanding research on the impacts of emergingindustries on farmers'livelihoods and rural spatial transformations.
