AbstractTo screen outthe hybrid indica rice varieties suitable for extension and planting in Suyu District,Suqian City,Jiangsu Province,a fieldexperiment was conductedwith5indicaricevarieties,namely Jiuyouyuehesimiao, Huiliangyou 898(CK),QLiangyousimiao,Wenliangyou 669and HuiliangyouOOl,as theresearch objects.Thegrowth period,agronomic traits (e.g.,plant height)andyieldof diferent varieties werecomparedandanalyzed.The results showed that thefullheading stage and maturity stage of the 5 tested rice varieties were relativelyconcentrated,with the total growth periodranging from 149 to154 days,among which Wenliangyou669 hadthe shortest total growth period. The plant height ofeach varietyvaried from107.9cmto123.5cm,andallvarieties exhibitedgoodlodging resistance and favorable ripening color transformation.Exceptfor Wenliangyou 669 with acompact panicle type,theother varieties hada moderate panicle type.Huiliangyou OOlachieved the highest yield,seedseting rateand1OOO-grain weight, which were 51.31 kg/66.7m,0.2 percentage points and 5.2 g higher than those of the CK,respectively.The seed setting rate and 1 OOO-grain weight of Q Liangyousimiao were relatively low,at 74.0% and 24.4 g, respectively. In conclusion,allthe 5varieties could grow safely in the studyarea.Huiliangyou OOl showed the best comprehensive performanceandwassuitableforextensionandplanting inthe studyarea;Wenliangyou 669,withashortergrowth period,was suitablefor mechanical transplanting as wheat stubblerice;theseed setting rateand1OOO-grain weightof Q Liangyousimiao were relatively low, which requires further experimental observation.
