Abstract：TheGKlc-typeelectriclocomotive isprimarilyused inmetalurgical enterprises，with thediesel engine serving as its main power source.However，the occurrnce offaults in the diesel engine is relatively high.By analyzing different fault causes and formulating emergency response measures，we can efectively maintain normaloperationof the locomotive，reduce maintenance frequency，and improve operational eficiency.Through research on fault analysisand handling of thediesel engine，we identifiedthefundamentalcauses ofsuch faults asbeing primarilyrelated tothecontrol system，fuelsystem，ubricatingoilsystem，andsafetyprotectiondevices withinthespeedsystem（speedregulationsytem）. Measures to reduce the occurrenceoffaults involve strengthening maintenance and upkeepof electrical components，fuel systems，lubricating oil systems， and safety protection devices in the speed regulation system.
