Research on the integration of ideological and political education in the course of Benthology for aquatic medicine majors in agricultural colleges and universities *

Abstract：Ideological and political education in curricula serves as a key pathway to implement the fundamental mission of “fostering virtue and nurturing talents.”Benthology，as a core course for this major，covers the classification，structure，functions，and ecological roles of benthic organisms，offering abundant resources for ideological and political education. Taking this course as an example，this study systematically identifies and explores the integrable ideological and political elements within it. Focusing on key teaching topics such as definition and classification of benthic animals，modes of asexual reproduction， characteristics of protozoans， features of sponges，and traits of mollusks，it explores natural connections between specialized knowledge and value guidance. This approach aims to guide students in understanding core concepts such as ecological ethics，scientific spirit，teamwork， transforming adversity，and systems thinking，thereby extending the educational goal from “knowledge impartation” to“value shaping". Through course design and teaching practice，a teaching model that integrates ideological and political education with distinctive aquatic characteristics will be constructed. This study provides referential ideas and practical examples for incorporating ideological and political education into professonal agricultural courses，contributing to the cultivation of applied talents for the new era who understand，love，and are commited to strengthening and revitalizing agriculture.
