Effect of antifouling coatings from fishing vessels on the growth of shellfish in aquaculture areas

Abstract：In order to clarify the effects of anti fouling coatings on the growth of shellfish in aquaculture areas，Crassostrea gigas and Ruditapes philippinarum were studied. Indoor simulation experiments were conducted to analyze the effects of copper containing anti fouling coatings，copper free environmentally friendly anti fouling coatings，and blank controls on the growth and physiological indicators of shellfish. The results showed that the copper ion content in the water containing copper coating group significantly increased，and the copper accumulation in shelfish was higher; Copper coating significantly inhibits the growth of shelfish，reduces survival rate and feeding rate，and increases respiration rate; Pacific oysters are more sensitive to pollutants than Philippine clams. Research provides a basis for selecting coatings and environmental control for fishing boats in aquaculture areas.
