Development of a low-carbon circular model integrating geothermal resources and aquaculture: a case study of Zhangjiakou City in Hebei Province

Abstract:This study proposes a low-carbon circular model for the synergistic development of geothermal resources and aquaculture in Zhangjiakou City to facilitate the green transition of its regional aquaculture industry. The research established a closed-loop system integrating“geothermal energy 一 aquaculture 一 tail water treatment - resource utilization”,leveraging the abundant local medium -low temperature geothermal resources. Analysis of domestic and international case studies demonstrates that this system enables eficient energy use,enhances aquaculture productivity,and significantly reduces carbon emissions. Tailored to Zhangjiakou City's regional characteristics,we recommend a trinity circular model combining“geothermal energy + aquaculture + vegetable cultivation". This study provides both theoretical support and a practical pathway for low-carbon development in the Zhangjiakou City.
