Investigation and analysis of termite occurrence in the Wuxi area from 2o15 to 2024

AbstractTo investigate the occurrence of termites in Wuxi，Jiangsu Province，the dataon termite infestations reported byresidents to termitecontrolagencies in thisarea from 2015to 2O24 were retrieved.The spatial andtemporal paternsof termite infestation，aswellasthetypesoflocationswhereinfestationsoccurrd，wereanalyzed.Colected specimens were identified morphologicallandmolecularly.Theresultsshowed thattermiteinfestations occurredinall eightadministrativeregionsstudied，withthehighestnumberofcontrolreportsinLXDistrict，averaging593peryear， which was significantly higher than intheother seven districts.Termiteactivity was observed every month，with the highest frequency occurring from March to May. In March，the number of outbreak events was generally high，and termite swarmsshowed aclear biennial pattern of two majorflightperiods per year.Termite infestations mainlyoccurred in brick-wood structures and factories.Thedominant pest species was identified as Reticulitermes （Rhinotermitidae）. In conclusion，termite infestationsarewidespread in thestudyarea，with distinctregional and temporal patterns.To address this， integrated management should be strengthened to improve termite control efficiency.
