AbstractNitrogen is an essentialnutrient for the growth and development of tobacco.The level of nitrogen supply in the soil plays acrucial role inthe formation of tobaccoyieldand quality.In response to the problem that excessive nitrogenapplication intobaccoproduction may cause tobacco plants tobeovergrownandlate maturing,thereby affcting yieldandquality,thisarticlereviews theefectsof reduced nitrogen fertilizerappicationonphysiological characteristics,drymateraccumulation,gronomictraitsandeconomictraits,nordertoclarifytheregulatoryefectof nitrogen reduction on the growth andoutput of tobacco.Analysis showed that appropriate nitrogen reduction combined with the application of microbial agents,increasedorganic fertilizer applicationor biochar can all increase the SPAD value of tobacco leaves as wellasroot length,root surface area androo volume;reducing nitrogen fertilizer application by 20% or less,combined with corresponding agronomic measures,can promote the accumulation of dry matter in tobacco plants,enhanceagronomic traitssuchas stemcircumference,plant height,and the numberof effctive leaves, as well as increase yield,output value,and theproportion of top-grade tobacco.Thisarticle provides references for rational nitrogenreductionin flue-cured tobacco,optimizationofcultivationmanagement,andachieving highquality
and efficient production.
