Abstract：Yu Guopei，aphysicianfrom Wuyuanduringthe Qing Dynasty，centered histheoryontheideathat“therootcauseof alldiseases liesiyssddampss”Hepledthediferetiatioofdssnddampestoughoutteeiolothogen sis，andtreatmentofabdominalpain，andproposedthremajortherapeutic guidelines：“treatingcoldanddrynessimultaneously”， “eliminatingdampness andturbidity，”and“nourishingblodandmoisteningdryness.”Forconditioswherecoldanddryesinteract causall，headvocatedtheconcurentuseofwarmingandmoistenngtoalanceyinandyangForcaseswheredampnessandturbidity obstructhemidlejiao，heemphasizedtheconcurrentuseofclearingheatandpromotingdiuresiswithprotecting yinfluids.Forabdominalpaincausedbyblooddefciencyleadingtodryness，herecommendedacombinationofpromotingdiuresisandnourishingthe bloodwithmoisteingdryess，withparticularatentiontotepathogenesisofpost-menstrualblooddficiencyandliverdeficenyn women.Yu’sapproach，whichharmonizestheqimovementof tezang-fuorgansandintegratestheprincipleofthecoespondence betweenheavenandman，providesatheoreticalmodelof“treatingbothsyptomsandrotcauses，ndappropriatelymoisteningdry ness”for modern clinical treatment of abdominal pain in traditional Chinese medicine.
