Research Progress on Risk Factors Associated with Ketoacidosis in Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus

Abstract: Diabetic ketoacidosis (DKA) is one of the common acute complications in patients with diabetes mellitus and, in severe cases, leads to an increased mortality rate. Although DKA is more commonly observed in patients with type 1 diabetes mellitus, its occurrence in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus has been increasingly reported in clinical practice in recent years. The mortality rate of DKA in these patients is higher than that of other complications, and multiple factors may contribute to its development. Therefore, it is particularly important to identify risk factors and achieve an effective diagnosis during the course of type 2 diabetes mellitus to prevent the occurrence of DKA. This article reviews the risk factors for DKA in type 2 diabetes mellitus, aiming to provide a reference for the screening and identification of DKA in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus.
