Effect of Modified Zhishang Yifang Decoction Assisted PFNA Internal Fixation on Joint Function Recovery in Patients with Intertrochanteric Fracture

Abstract： Objective To investigate the effect of modified Zhishang Yifang decoction assisted proximal femoral nail anti-rotation （PFNA） internal fixation on joint function recovery in patients with intertrochanteric fracture （ITF）. Methods A total of 60 patients with ITF admitted to Wanzai County Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine from January 2021 to December 2024 were enrolled as study subjects and divided into a conventional surgery group （30 patients） and an adjuvant surgery group （30 patients） using the odd-even number drawing method. The conventional surgery group received conventional PFNA internal fixation， while the adjuvant surgery group was treated with modified Zhishang Yifang decoction as an adjunct to PFNA internal fixation. The two groups were compared in terms of postoperative recovery time （postoperative limb swelling resolution time， postoperative hospital stay， and fracture healing time）， joint function recovery， and postoperative complications. Results The postoperative limb swelling resolution time， postoperative hospital stay， and fracture healing time in the adjuvant surgery group were significantly shorter than those in the conventional surgery group （P<0.05）. The excellent and good rate of joint function recovery in the adjuvant surgery group was higher than that in the conventional surgery group （93.33% vs. 76.67%）， and the incidence of postoperative complications was lower than that in the conventional surgery group （3.33% vs. 20.00%） （P<0.05）. Conclusion Modified Zhishang Yifang decoction as an adjunct to PFNA internal fixation has a definite therapeutic effect on ITF， which can accelerate postoperative rehabilitation， improve joint function recovery， and reduce the risk of surgical complications.
