Effect Buyang Huanwu Decoction Combined with Acupuncture and Moxibustion Rehabilitation Therapy on Hemiplegia After Stroke and its Influence on Motor Function

and Quality Life Patients

Abstract： Objective To analyze the efficacy applying Buyang Huanwu decoction combined with acupuncture and rehabilitation rehabilitation therapy in patients with hemiplegia after stroke， as well as its impact on their motor function and quality life. Methods A total 60 patients with hemiplegia after stroke， all whom underwent treatment at between January 2021 and December 2024， were selected for this study and randomly assigned via a random number table method into a control group （n=30） and a study group （n=30）， with the control group receiving conventional therapy along with rehabilitation training， and the study group receiving the same conventional therapy and rehabilitation training plus additional treatment with Buyang Huanwu decoction and acupuncture and rehabilitation rehabilitation therapy. The two groups were compared in terms clinical efficacy， motor function [Simplified Fugl-Meyer Assessment （FMA） and the Modified Ashworth Scale （MAS）]， neurological function [National Institutes Health Stroke Scale （NIHSS） and Mini-Mental State Examination （MMSE）]， and quality life （including psychological function， social function， physical function， and material life status）. Results The total effective rate treatment in the study group was higher than that in the control group （96.67% vs. 73.33%， P<0.05）. Compared with the scores each scale in the control group after treatment， the study group exhibited higher FMA scores， MMSE scores， and scores for each dimension as well as the total score quality life， whereas the MAS grade and NIHSS score were lower in the study group （P<0.05）. Conclusion The clinical efficacy Buyang Huanwu decoction combined with acupuncture and moxibustion rehabilitation therapy in treating stroke patients with hemiplegia is definite， as it can improve both motor function and neurological function in patients， as well as enhance their quality life.
