Field control efficacy of Rhodovulum sulfidophilum HNI-1 against pepper viral diseases

Abstract To investigate the control efficacy of Rhodovulum sulfidophilum HNI-1 against pepper viral disease, a test was conducted using Changqinglong as the test pepper variety with 5 treatments: 2×108 CFU/mL Rhodovulum sulfidophilum HNI-1 SC at 50g/667m2 (treatment 1), 100g/667m2 (treatment 2), and 150g/667m2 (treatment 3); 30% dufulin·moroxydine hydrochloride WP at 40g/667m2 (treatment 4); and water control (CK). The first and second applications were performed on November 14 and 21, 2024, respectively, and the disease index and control efficacy were measured at 7 days after the first and second applications. The results showed that at 7 days after the first application, treatment 3 had the lowest disease index (0.078) and the highest control efficacy (65.49%), which was significantly better than treatment 1 and treatment 2 ( P<0.01) but showed no significant difference from treatment 4 ( P>0.05); at 7 days after the second application, the disease index and control efficacy of treatment 3 were 0.107 and 67.18%, respectively, which were significantly superior to treatment 1 and treatment 2 ( P<0.01) with no significant difference from treatment 4 ( P>0.05), and the control efficacy of Rhodovulum sulfidophilum HNI-1 against pepper viral disease showed an upward trend with the increase of concentration. In conclusion, 2×108 CFU/mL Rhodovulum sulfidophilum HNI-1 SC at 150g/667m2 exhibited a superior overall performance in controlling pepper viral disease, and this study provides a reference for the biological control of pepper virus disease.
