[Abstract]Thetheoryof"stagnantbloodleads towaterretention"originatesfromJinGuiYaoLue（Essentialsfromthe GoldenCabinet）byZHANGZhongjing.Theblood-activatingandwater-drainingmethodderivedfromthistheoryiswidelyapplied inthetreatmentofrenal，gynecological，edema，andophthalmicdiseases.ProfesorPENGQinghuabelievesthatthecore pathogenesisofprimarenangleucomalisinllteralagnation，cosureoftemyteriousmansion，andaccliof aqueoushumour duetobloodstasis.Bloodstasisandwaterretentionpersistthroughouttheentirecourseofthedisease， representingaoncuentisorderofqibloodandwater.However，teemphasisofpathogenesisvarisindiferentagesHe advocatesforstage-basedtreatment：Intheearlystage，themainisueis"qistagnation，withafocusonsothingtheliver， activatingblood，anddrainingwaterusingmodifidXiaoyaoowder;intheprogreivesage，thepredominantproblemis"water retention"withanemphasisoneliminatingpathogenicfactors，ctivatingbloodnddrainingwater，mployingmodifidWendan DecoctioncombinedwithWulingPowder，andintheadvancedstage，themainmanifestationis"blodstagnation"characterizedby acombinationofdeficiencyandstasis.Thetreatmentprioritizestonifyingdeficiencyactivatingblood，anddraining water，sing Qingguang'an Granules or modified Qingguang'an II Formula.
