Iuman一AI Interaction,Knowledge Domain Coupling,and Breakthrough Innovation:Empirical Research on the New Energy Vehicle Industry

Abstract:Artificial inteligence is profoundly reshaping the mechanisms through which organizations achieve breakthrough innovation.Adopting a human-AI interaction perspective,this study aims to investigate its impact on breakthrough innovation and,drawing on the knowledge-based view(KBV), examine the mediating role of knowledge-domain coupling in this relationship.Human-AI interaction is classified into augmented and autonomous modes,while knowledge-domain coupling is conceptualized as complementary and iterative types.Empirical analysis of two-wave survey data from 340 employees reveals that: ① both augmented and autonomous human-AI interaction positively influence breakthrough innovation; ② knowledge-domain coupling mediates this relationship;and ③ absorptive capacity positively moderates the efectof knowledge-domain coupling on breakthrough innovation.The primary theoretical contributionof this study lies in elucidating the micro-level mechanisms of AI-driven innovation fromaninteractionperspective.By developing and validating the theoretical pathway from human-AI interaction to breakthrough innovation via knowledge-domain coupling,this studyextends theknowledge-based view in AI-enabled contexts.Practically,it provides managers with clear theoretical foundations and actionable guidance to implement human-AI collaboration,optimize knowledge governance,and enhance organizational learning for systematically fostering breakthrough innovation.
