Abstract:Infant formula servesasacritical nutritional source for infantswhoarenotbreastfed,with the technologicallevelofitscore ingredients playingadecisiverolein productqualityandsafety.Inrecentyears,China hasachievedremarkable progressintheresearch,development,and industrializationof novelcore ingredients in this sector,progressivelyreducing itslong-term dependence on importedkeyraw materials.A systematic review of thecurrent research landscape,industrial challnges,and development trendsof5major categories of novel core ingredients in infant formula including milk proteins,milk peptides,carbohydrates,human milk-structured lipids and infant probiotics was provided.It emphasized China’stechnological breakthroughsand independent innovations inhigh-end ingredientssuchaslactoferrin,humanmilkoligosaccharidesandmedium-andlong-chain triglycerides, while also addressing persisting challenges.Looking ahead,it was imperative touphold human milk as the“gold standard”,enhance interdisciplinary collaboration,intensify fundamental research,overcomekey technological botlenecks,refine standard systems,and promote high-quality development of China’s infant formula industry to ensure independent control over infant nutritional security.
