Determination of Sodium Propionate and Calcium Propionate in Food by High Performance Liquid Chromatography

Abstract:Objective:To establishahigh performance liquid chromatography method forthe determinationof sodium propionate and calcium propionate contents in food.Methods: A C18 chromatographic column was selected for the experiment.The mobile phase was methanol ⋅0.02mol/L potassium dihydrogen phosphate solution. The column temperature was constant at 30∘C ,the flow rate was 1.0mL/min ,and the detection wavelength was 214nm Samples wereseparated and detected.Results:Within therange of 0.05-1.0mg/mL ,sodium propionate and calcium propionate showed a good linear relationship, with correlation coeficients both exceeding 0.9995.The recovery rate of the method was 97.5%~104.6% ,and the relative standard deviation was less than 3% .Conclusion:This method features a simpleoperationprocess,rapiddetectionspeed,andaccurateandreliableresults.Ithassignificant effectiveness and practicality in the determination of sodium propionateandcalcium propionate in food and can be used for rapid screening and quantitative analysis ofbatch samples.
