Abstract:Mobile-assistedlanguagelearing(MALL)resourcesrefertodigitalcontentandtoolsystemsdeliveredthroughportable terminalssuchassmartphonesandtablets,whicharedesignedtosupportstudents inacquiringlanguageknowledgeanddeveloping languageskill.Aganstthebackdropofdeepeninginformatizationinghereducation,MALLhasbecomeasignificantpathway foruniversitystudentstodeveloptheirlanguageproficiency.Thescientificdesignoftheseresourcesdirectlyimpactsstudents academicadaptation.MetacognitiontheoryprovidesacrucialperspectiveforunderstandingtherelationshipbetweeMALLreso urcesandacademicadaptation:metacognitiveknowledgehelpsstudentsrationallyselectlearningresourcesandstrategiesbased ontheirlanguageproficiency;metacognitiveexperiencepromotes students'self-awarenessandemotionalregulationduringthe languagelearingprocessandmetacognitivemontoringsupportstimelyevaluationandadjustmentoflanguageleaingbehaviors. Thesethrecomponentsofmetacognitionworksynergisticallyformingtheinteralmechanismthroughwhichstudentseectively developlanguageproficiencyinMALLenvironments.Therefore,optimizing thedesignofMALLresources undertheguiding frameworkofmetacognitionprovidesacrucialtheoreticalfoundationandpracticalpathways forenhancinguniversitystudents' academic adaptation in language learning.
