Abstract:The traditional green building thinking paradigmprimarilycenters onthe Green Building Evaluation Standard.Astheconstruction industry evolvesand societaldemands for green buildings continue torise,certain limitations of this approach have gradually become apparent. Complex system management theory addresss the multi-faceted challengesinvolving technology,environment,andmanagement in enginering projects through fourcoremechanisms: complexity reduction,multi-scale management,adaptive selection,and iterative generation.It seks optimal pathways to achieve green and low-carbon goals within intricate relational networks.Taking the green building practice case of the Nanjing Yangtze River Intermational Conference Center project to elaborate onhow complex system management thinking canbeappied to solvekeyisuesandfacilitateaparadigmshiftinthinking,therebyadvancingthe constructionindustry toward greener,low-carbon,and more sustainable development.
