Screening of resistant varieties and optimization of supporting cultivation techniques for apple ring rot disease

Abstract: Apple ring rot is a major disease in main apple-producing areas of China, which poses severe impacts on the yield and quality improvement of the apple industry. Field resistance identification and artificial inoculation experiments were conducted to screen apple varieties with high resistance to ring rot. The results showed that the disease indices of Lujia No. 6, Yanfu No.11 and Huashuo under field conditions were 8.3, 9.5 and 11.2,respectively, which were significantly lower than that of Red Fuji. In addition, supporting techniques including environmental regulation, fertilizer-water management and comprehensive prevention and control were optimized. After implementation, the incidence of ring rot in the experimental orchard decreased from 37.5% to 9.3% ,and the percentage of marketable fruits reached 91.5%
