Preliminary report on regional trial research of Carya illinoinensis in Chuzhou

Abstract： To explore the growth characteristics of Carya illinoinensis in the Chuzhou area， this experiment adopted the multi-block experimental method to investigate the flowering period， fruit traits， fruit yield and tree growth of each variety. The results showed that there is a phenomenon of seven Carya illinoinensis with distinct male and female ripeness and missed flowering periods. Huangbo No.2 and Pawnee are male pregeners， while Mahan， C10， Jian 5， Jian 28 and Jian 35 are female pregeners.The fruit shapes of different varieties of Carya illinoinensis with thin shelled shells vary. The fruit shapes of Huangbo No.2， Jian 35， Jian 5 and Pawnee are relatively round， while those of C10 and Mahan are relatively slender. There are differences in fruit yield among different varieties of Carya ilinoinensis. C10 and Jian 28 have the best performance in terms of single fruit weight and average plant yield.The growth volume of diferent varieties of pecan varies to some extent. Jian 35 has the best comprehensive performance in terms of tree height， diameter at breast height， east-west crown width and north-south crown width.In summary， C1O and Jian 28 can be cultivated as fruit varieties， while Jian 35 can be considered for selection and breeding as a material variety.
