Broadband Double-balanced Mixer with High Isolation Adopting Improved LO Balun

Abstract：To improve theisolationof thebroadband double-balanced mixer，an improvedLO Balun is proposed.A groundedtuning capacitor isintroducedatthemidpointof the primarycoupled linesoftheLO Balun，whicheffectively improves the amplitude balance and phase balance of the LO Balun over a broadband.In addition，impedance matching networks are introducedat the RFand LO ports，which improves the port matching characteristics and facilitates system cascade application.The mixer is manufactured based on the domestically independent and controllable 0.15μm GaAs pHEMT process， with a chip area of 1.6mm×1.35mm. Measurement results show that the LO-RF and LO-IF isolations are greater than 49.1 dB and 38.6dB ，respectively，which are significantly higher than those of similar devices.
