Comparative Study and Simulation of Three NAT Hairpin Paradigms

Abstract：NATHairpin is a keyapplication scenarioofNAT technology，which solves the problem of internal hosts accessing internal servers throughpublic addresses.This paper analyzes the working mechanismsofthree mainstream hairpin paradigms，includingNATHairpin，bidirectionalNAT，andNATPolicy，through simulationexperiments.Itprovidescore configurationsandtesting schemes，andsystematicallycompares theirperformancecharacteristics.Thersultsshowthatnterms of performance，NATHairpinhasthelowestlatencyfollowedbybidirectionalNAT，andNATPolicyhasthe highestlatency dueto large policy matchingoverhead.In termsofconfigurationandsecurityNAPolicysupports multi-dimensionalpolicy controland hasthestrongestfexibility;bidirectionalNATimprovessecuritythrough two-wayconversion;NATHarpiniseasy toconfigurebutislimitedbydevicecompatibility.Theresearchresults provideatheoreticalreferenceandpractical guidacefor the selection of NAT Hairpin schemes in different network environments.
