Comparative study on the application difference of research methods in Chinese physical education and sport science： Investigation and analysis based on conference papers， journal articles， and dissertations

Abstract： Inovation and development of research methods willprovide the intemal driving force for constructing an independent knowledge system in physical education and sport science.Based on 36198 papers from the 5th to the13th national sport science conference，supplementedby70 275 journal articles indexed by Chinese Social Science Citation Index and 2 6O8 doctoral disertations，and word frequency analysis，co-word analysis，and social network analysis were employed to investigate the application features ofresearch methods across diferent types of scholarly outputs. The findings show that conference papers serve as a key platform for experimenting with frontier approaches， especially methods and technologies drawn from information and computing disciplines，and thus play a pivotal role in promoting methodological innovation. However，certain diffrence of research methods used by different types of scholarly outputs，which reveals a tension between the rapid response of conference papers to cutting-dge methods and the more cautious orientation of the latter two carrirs.Many cuting-edge and inovative research methods，once proposed，willbe not further developed into stable and widelyreusable research tools，and therenewal and iterative evolution of research methods in physical education and sport science willbe delayed. Since methodological innovationas an fundamental basis for knowledgeand theory innovation，the future work should focus on promoting methodological innovation in discipline，cultivating literacyin scientific methods， establishing awarenessof standardized methods.
