Failure Investigationand Structural Optimizationofa Commercial VehicleRadiator BracketFracture

Abstract:Fora4.5-toncommercialvehicleexperiencingradiatorbracketfracturesduringrelabityoadtesting,thisstudyemploys finiteelementanalysis(FE)forfaultdiagnosisandstructuraloptimization.Afiniteelementmodelincoporatingthebracketandpatal chassiswasestablishedusingtheHyperWorkssoftwareplatform.Byconstrainingthemainongitudinalbeamsandapplyingexcitation staticanddynamicstrengthanalyseswereconductedtocomparethedesignstatewiththeactualvehiclefracturecondition.Results indicatethatstressesundervariousstaticloadconditionsrmaiedwihinlimits.HoweverunderYdirectionsweepexcitationepeak stresszone(156MPa)preciselycorrspondedtotheactualveiclecracklocationconfimingYdirectiondynamicresonanceaste rotcauseoffacture.Bsedotstiaiosoutisweepropoed:nreaingplatetknssdngstfnrsndding materials.After optimization,the peak dynamic stress in the Y-direction decreased to 96MPa ,representinga 38.5% reduction and effectivelyeliminatingthecrackingrisk.Tisstudyprovidesaneffctivesolutionforreliabiltdesinandfailurepreventionofcassis accessories.
