CFD-Based Optimization of the Battery Thermal Management System fora New Energy Heavy-Duty Truck

Abstract:This studyaddresses theoverheatingfaultof thebaterypackinanew energyheavy-dutytruckundersupercharging conditions.Focusingonthefluidpipelinesofthebateryliquidcolingsystem,computationalfluiddynamics(CFD)simulationand optimizationanalysiswereconducted.Theresutsindicatethatthepipelinselectionandoveralayoutofthebaterycolingsystem arereasoable.Howeeriniantflowdistribtiombalancadinsuftotalfoweedentifieditteiulaedtotalflow measuredatonly80.58L/min.Afteraplatform-based upgradeof thewaterpump,theexperimental totalfow increased to min,andtheflowuniforityacrossbrachicuitsimproved.Furthermore,nofurtherovereatingfaultsccuredinthebateryder superchargingconditions.Thisstudyprovidesimportantengineeringinsightsforthethermalmanagementdesignofbaterysystemsin commercial heavy-duty trucks under supercharging conditions.
