Abstract: Information asymmetry and lack of trust have limited the growth and effciency of remanufacturing supply chains.Blockchain technology has an immutable ledger and full traceability. It can help solve these problems. Carbon-quota policies use market incentives to push firms to improve their production and pricing decisions in emissions reduction. This paper studies an authorised remanufacturing supply chain under a carbon-quota regime. We build Stackelberg game models for the OEM and a third-party remanufacturer (TPR). The models cover four scenarios of blockchain adoption: neither party adopts blockchain; only the OEM adopts it; only the TPR adopts it; both adopt it. We use backward induction to derive optimal contracts and pricing strategies. Our results show that high traceability and low implementation costs drive OEM and TPR to adopt blockchain together. This joint adoption improves overall pricing efciency. It also optimises the carbon-cost sharing mechanism. It boosts environmental performance and market competitiveness.Numerical simulations show that balancing unit carbon quotas and traceability costs is key to blockchain adoption and pricing strategies.
