Green and low-carbon transformation of China's rubber industry from the perspective of industry chain

Abstract： The rubber industry is acore sector for China’ s green and low-carbon transformation. From the perspective of the industrial chain，this study interprets the theoretical connotation of the green and low-carbon transformation in therubber industry.Itconstructs aframework for identifying and analyzing the levelof green and low-carbon transformation based on the three dimensions of the rubber industry's“upstream，midstream and downstream"segments.Using rubber industry listed companies from 2015 to 2024 as the research sample，the study employs content analysis and structural equation modeling to measure and analyze the green and low-carbon transformation levels ofupstream，midstreamand downstream enterprises in therubber industry.Theresearch results showthatthe greenandlow-carbon transformation index ofupstream，midstreamand downstream enterprises in China's rubber industry has generally shown a steady upward trend.Further deconstruction and analysis reveal that the green andlow-carbon transformation level is highestamong midstreamenterprises，followed bydownstream enterprises，and lowestamong upstreamenterprises.Leveraging the synergistic efects of policyguidance，technological innovation，and marketdrivers，midstreamenterprises have emergedas the key“anchorpoint”forthe low-carbon transformationof the rubber industrychain.Heterogeneityanalysis indicates thatthe tirecompanies have achieved the most significantresults in greenand low-carbon transformation，followed byautomotivecompanies，while naturalrubbercompanies lag behind， withrelativelysmalerdisparitiesamong other enterprises.Therefore，China should persistentlyadvancethe greenand low-carbon transformationof therubber industry.Local governments can formulate targeted support policies based on industrycharacteristicsand promotecolaborativecarbonreduction amongrubber industryenterprises through fulifecycle management.
