Carbon Reduction Calculation for Co-anaerobic Digestion of Municipal Sludge andKitchenWaste

【Abstract】:This paper takes asludge treatment plantas an example toanalyze thecarbon emision reduction effects ofcoanaerobic digestion of municipal sludge and food waste.By comparing operational data from 2O17(sludge treatment alone)and 202o(co-treatment of sludge and kitchen waste),the impact of co-digestion on biogas production and emission reduction was investigated.The results show that co-digestion increased biogas production fromapproximately 4.126 million Nm³ to 12.775million Nm³,arise of 209.6% ,while carbon emission reduction grew from 8,809.14 tCO 2e to 22,771.97 tCO2e ,animprovement of 158.5% .To further reduce carbon emissions,the plant could adopt measures such as replacing part of its net purchased electricity and optimizing nitrogen removal processes.
