Sparse-based RIS assisted channel estimation method

Abstract:This paper developed an improved OMP-based dual-sparsitychannel estimation method (D-OMP)to address two critical chalengesinRIS-asistedcommunicationsystems:excessivepilotresourceconsumptionandchannel interferencefrom abnormalusers(userswithweight≤O.1).Theproposedalgorithmfullyutilizedthedual-sparsitycharacteristicsof thecascadedchannel intheangular domainandrefined the thre-stageD-OMPframework:a)jointlyestimating the multi-usercommon rowsupport byreplacing man with median energydetection toefectivelysuppressabnormal-user interference;b)introducing multi-user weighting tooptimize thepartiallycommon columnsupport;c)adaptivelypruningabnormal users via multi-user weightingcoeficients tooptimizeuser-specificcolumnsupport.Simulationresultsindicatethatthealgorithmreducespilot overheadwhileachieving morethan3dBNMSEimprovementoverconventional OMP,andthemethodmaintainsstableperformance underboth low-SNRconditionsandabnormal-user interference,significantlyenhancing systemrobustness.Bycombiningdual-sparsityjointestimationwithanabnomal-usersuppesionmechanism,thisworkenablescomputationallyefient channel estimation for dense RIS deployments.
