Research on Blade Thickness Distribution of Rim-Driven Thrusters

Abstract: Based on the Ka4-7O+No.19A ducted propeller,this paper constructs a 3D geometric model of he rim-driven thruster blade.Numerical simulation of the thruster’s open-water performance is conducted using the SST k -@ turbulence model in the STAR-CCM + CFD platform.A scheme for reducing the overall blade thickness is proposed,and the influence of diferent thicknessdistributionson open-water performance parameters is studied. Results indicate that reducing blade thickness within a certain range decreases thrust and torque.At low advance speeds,models with thinner blades achieve the highest eficiency,while at high advance speeds,models with thicker blades exhibit optimal efficiency.
