Seeking Common Ground While Exploring Differences： An Exchange with Mr. He Jiasun on the Principle of Provenance

Abstract： This paper aims to conduct an academic exchange with Mr. He Jiasun on the principle of provenance.By means of "seeking common ground and exploring diferences"，itdeeplyanalyzes the theoreticalconnotationofthe principleof provenanceand itsapplicationin the fieldofarchival science.Firstly，the paper reviews the importantcontributions made by Mr.HeJiasuninsuchresearchirectionsasthelawofrecordsmovement，thereconstructionofthefondstheoryandthepostcustodialera.Meanwhile，focusingonthecontroversialissueofthe"broadconceptofprovenance"，thispapersortsoutdiferent academicviewpoints，and putsforward critical thinking onthe broadconceptof provenance combined with relevant rules of terminologyexpansion.Finally，theauthorespeciallyemphasizes thescientificnatureandstandardizationofthetheoretical system.The appoach of "seeking common ground and exploring diferences" is not onlyaresponse to Mr.He Jiasun's academicthoughts，but alsoanexplorationofresearch methods inarchivalscience.Itishopedthattheanalysisoftheseissues will promote the continuous improvement and progress of the theoretical system of archival science.
