Research and application of whole-processes welding distortion in B pillar based on FEM

Abstract: To research the influence of welding distortion from diffrent vehicle structures,the finite element models of resistance welding in B pillar area are established both for original car in Europe and product safety measure (PSM) car in China. The welding distortion in B pillar is simulated by thermoplastic finite element method.At the same time,the chain-simulation is finished for wholeprocesses welding in B pillar area,and the total welding distortion is got.The results show that the maximal distortion in B pillar is 0.85mm ,which is in good agreement with real distortion 0.90mm . The total distortion from whole-processes chain-simulation issmaler than simple accumulation of each processes,and it meets the real produce better.
