Abstract:Utilizing research methods including participant observation,in-depth interviews,ndanalysis ofsecondary data,this studytraces the processof education-driven urbanization processincounties,,revealing itsunderlying mechanisms and social risks.The findings suggest that county governments promote theurbanization of schools,students, and teachers through educationalspatialreorganization,creating pathways for student migration tourbanareas,and facilitatingteacherrelocationtocities.Thisapproach prioritizestherobustdevelopmentofcounty-level education whilegraduallymarginalizing rural education,therebycompeling ruralresidents tomigrateandpurchase urban housing.Rural families are forced toactivate familial functionalcapacitiesand formaresponsestrategyof "semi-industry andaccompanying schooling".Theeducation-drivenurbanizationmodel of counties generates multiple social risks, including conflicting educational objectivesbetweencentralandlocal governments,diminished stabilityofrural households,ndacycleofartificialprosperityinurbanizationofcounties.Itsshort-term"developmental"effectsmay incur severeunintended consequences.County education should not be instrumentalized as asocial tool,and county urbanization urgently requires adopting a more sustainable development pathway.
