Abstract：Aestheticswasborinthemidleofthe18thcenturyintheWest，andwasreallyintroducedtoChinainthemidto-late 9th century.Although the concept of beauty was introduced by missionaries in the late Ming Dynasty，the cope of knowledge belonged tomedievalaesthetics，soitcannotberegardedasatranslationof Aesthetics inthemodernense. During thelateQingDynasty，beautyappeared intheEnglish-Chinesedictionaries compiledbythelateQing misionaries as thecore translationof‘Mei’，andbecameatransitional termfor Aesthetics.InsomeEnglish-Chinesedictionaries，not onlydidtherelatedtranslationsofAesthetcisanditsderivativesappear，but theconnotationofthetranslationshadalready beguntotakeonadisciplinarysense.YanYongjing's Aesthetics translated Aestheticsinthelightofthetraditional Chinese aestheticunderstandingof‘Wanwushiqing’，whichconnects ChineseandWestern ideasofaesthetics，afirms thescientific natureof‘Wanwushiqing’aswellasthevalueofaesthetics，andreflects theawarenessof transforming thetraditional aestheticstomodernaesthetics.Thetranslationof‘Aesthetics’isarealisationofthetransformationoftraditionalaesthetics to modern aesthetics.His translation of‘aesthetics’was two years earlier thanthat used bythe German missionary Hua Zhi'an inFedback fromtheWest totheEast.In The ScienceofMind，Yan Yongjing reacquaints himself with Aesthetics inthecontextoftheWestensystemofintelectualknowledgeandtranslatesitwith‘Aesthetics’，ighlightingtheawares of he discipline.Theanalysisof the translationof Aestheticsistoshow moreaccuratelytheculturaleffectandideological change that the term has produced after entering the Chinese context.
