Analysis of the therapeutic effect of curcumin on Staphylococcus lentus-infected skin lesions

ABSTRACT:To explore thetherapeutic efectofcurcuminonskin infectioncaused by Staphylococcus lentus,we isolated andidentifieda strain of S.lentus froma diseased mice.Subsequently,a mouse skin infection model was established to analyzethe pathogenicityof the bacteriaand evaluate the therapeuticefectof curcumin.Theresults showed thatthe dermallayerofthe woundtissueofthebacterial infection grouphadinflammatorycellinfiltration,and theregenerationof hair foliclesandcollagen fibers was reduced.Immunohistochemical results showed that the numberof macrophage surface markersF4/8O increased,and fluorescencequantitative results showed that the mRNA transcription levels of cytokines IL-6 and IL–Iβ was increased; in the curcumin group,the wound healing rate was accelerated,collagen fibers were regenerated in the dermis,the number of CD-34 and TGF-β positive cells increased,and the relative expression of IL-6 and IL–1β mRNA was decreased. In conclusion,S.lentus can aggravate skin wound tissue damage and inflammatory response. Curcumin :an abate the corresponding pathological damage and promote collagen fiber regeneration and wound healing.
