Abstract: As a relief channel for electrical equipment, the normal operation of the grounding network is essential to ensure the safety of the power network.As the grounding network is buried in the ground, it is susceptible to soilcorrosion and various stray currents or short-circuit current erosion,resulting in corrosion or defects such as breakpoints.This phenomenon leads to corrosion or breakpoints and other defects,which causes the power system and personal safety potential danger. In this paper, a corrosion defect detection method is proposed for grounding network based on transient electromagnetic imaging technology. The method detects the inductive signals of the grounding network by transmiting pulsed currents to the excitation coil, which in tum inverts the apparent resistivity inside the grounding network. Rapid diagnosis of possible breakpoint faults in the grounding network based on scanning imaging results.According to the transient response signals calculated by COMSOL Multiphysics,the validity and feasibility of the proposed method is demonstrated by comparing the results of defect-free and defective apparent resistivity imaging.
