[Abstract]The primary objectives of orthodontic treatment in adult patients with periodontal disease are to improve dental alignmentandocclusalrelationships，optimizeoralhygieneconditions，restore masticatoryfunction，andenance aestheticoutcomes.During treatment，orthodontists shouldcomprehensivelyandcontinuouslyevaluate thepatient’speriodontalhealth status，adoptpersoalized biomechanical control strategies，enhancemultidisciplinarycolaboration，and implementtargeted preventionand management measures forpotentialorthodonticrisks.Thisarticleprovidesanoverview of common clinical issues encountered in the orthodontic treatment of adult periodontal patients.Keyareas addresed include the relationship between periodontal diseaseandthe development of malocclusion，the formulationof treatmentobjectives，inicaionsandcotrindications，keyspectsof treatmentproessontrol，theoleofdogaic examination in treatment planning and monitoring， and post-orthodontic retention protocols.
