[Abstract]This study systematicall reviews the latest research advances in clear aligners acrosmaterials science, clinicaltreatmentoutcomes,and impactsonoral health.Inmaterials science,research focuses onmembranebiocompatibility,developmentofbio/smart composite aligners,and direct printing technology for clear aligners.Although mainstreammaterialsaregenerallysafe,some stillharborcytotoxicrisks.Smart composite materialsoffer novel strategies for monitoringandpreventingenameldemineralizationandbacterial biofilm formation byintegratingsensorsorincorporatingantimicrobial agents.Directlyprinted aligner technologydemonstrates significant potential duetoitscustomizability and high precision.Regardingclinicaleficacy,evidence indicates thatclear alignersachievecomparableresults with fixedappliances formild-to-moderate maloccusions,though theireficiencyand effctivenessare slightlyinferiorin complex extraction cases.Regarding specific tooth movement control,arch expansion primarilyrelies oncrown inclination,yieldingresultsbelowdesignexpectations;molardistalizationachievementisalsolimited.Studiesrefutethenotion thataspecific“bite-rampeffect”causesmandibular counterclockwise rotation.For skeletal class II malocclusionsinchildren,clearalignerscombinedwith functional orthodonticmodulesshowpromisingapplications, though evidencelevelsrequire furtherenhancement.Regarding oral health impacts,multiple studies confirm that clear aligners efectively reduce enamel demineralization risk, decrease plaqueaccumulation,and improveperiodontal healthcompared with fixedappliances.Insummary,clearaligner technology hasadvanced toward greatprecision,eficiency,and personalization.However,clinicians mustrecognize its tool-like nature.Successful treatment fundamentallyrelies oncomprehensive diagnosis,appropriate treatment planning,and meticulous clinical execution.
