Abstract: To examine the moderating effect of basic psychological needs factors on the Theory of Planned Behavior (TPB) framework in the context of university students' exercise behavior,a survey was conducted among university students with exercise behavior in the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region. It measured TPB-related factors, psychological needs satisfaction and exercise behavior, and used hierarchical regression analysis to test the moderating effect of basic psychological needs satisfaction on the TPB framework. The results show that autonomous needs have a negative moderating effect on
the relationship between subjective norms and exercise intention, and a positive moderating effect on therelationship between exercise intention and exercise behavior.Specifically, the higher the satisfaction of autonomous needs, the stronger the autonomous motivation of university students to participate in exercise, and the less their exercise intention is influenced by environment. At the same time, individual self-control ability willalso be enhanced, leading to a higher efficiency in converting exercise intention into actual exercise behavior.
