Introduction of CAO Xuemei's Experience in Treating Depression with Static and Dynamic Spirit-Regulating Method Based on "Unity of Body and Spirit" Theory

Abstract：This article is to introduce Director CAO Xuemei's clinical experience in treating depression with static and dynamic spirit-regulating method basedonthe"unityofbodyand spirit"theory.DirectorCAO holds thatthecore pathogenesisof depresion is initiatedby liver qi stagnation，leading to qi-movement disharmonyof theconception vessel and governor vessel（qi stagnationinthe conception vesslandqideficiencyin the governorvessel）as the structural basis，and yin-yang imbalance intheheart，liver，and kidneyas the keyaspectof mental disease，forming a vicious cycleof"mutual damageofbodyand spirit".DirectorCAO Xuemei established the"staticanddynamic spiritregulating method"（regulating conceptionvesselandunblocking governor vessel by acupuncture，lowand moderateintensityaerobic exercise，and Dantian breathing exercises）under the guidance of "nourishment of bodyand spirit". Thisapproach achieves simultaneous treatment of body and spirit byregulating conception vessel and unblocking governor vessel，balancing yin and yang，nourishing the zang-fu organs，and calming the heart and mind.
