Research Progress on the Prebiotic-Like Mechanism of Polysaccharide Components in Yin-Nourishing Herbs

Abstract：With thecontinuous development of microecological research，the regulationof gut microbiota has become an important approach to improving health status.Eliminating pathogens andreinforeing healthyqi isa fundamental therapeutic principle in traditional Chinese medicine（TCM）.Among the healthyqi-reinforcing herbs， yin-nourishing herbs are widely used in clinical practice to treat various diseases such as diabetes，palpitations，yin deficiency-induced exogenous fever，and constipation.Modern pharmacologicaland clinical studies haveshown that polysaccharides contained in yin-nourishing herbs serve as important sources for maintainingthe structure and function of gut microbiota，exhibiting multiple efects including immunomodulation，anti-inflammation，anti-tumor activity， and improvement of glucose and lipid metabolism disorders.This review summarizes researchon howpolysaccharide components from yin-nourishing herbs regulategut microbiota homeostasis invivoand in vitro，promote the production of metabolites such as short-chain fattyacids （SCFAs），and modulate signaling pathways.Italso analyzes the potential of these polysaccharides as prebiotics combined with probiotics，providing a scientific basis for developing polysaccharide components from yin-nourishing herbs into prebiotics.
