Genome-wide identification and expression profiling of the BSK gene family in Cucumis sativus

ABSTRACT:The BSK (brassinosteroid-signaling kinase)gene family acts as key regulators in plant signal transduction, playing pivotal roles ingrowth,development,andenvironmental adaptation.Although theirfunctions have been wel characterized in model plantssuchas Arabidopsis thaliana and Oryzasatiua,their roles in cucurbit cropsremain largely uncharacterized. In this study,we identified eight CsBSK family members ( ∵CsBSKı-CsBSK& in cucumber (Cucumis satius L.)through whole-genome analysis.These genes were unevenly distributed acrossfour chromosomes,and their encoded proteins contained conserved Ser/Thr protein kinase domains and tetratricopeptide repeat domains.Promoter analysis revealed that CsBSK genes harbor various cis-acting regulatory elements,including light-responsive, hormone-responsive,and biotic/abiotic stressresponsive elementsExpresionanalysis revealed that CsBSK genes exhibiteddistinct expresion patterns under biotic and abiotic stressconditions.Furthermore,subcelular localization studies indicated that CsBSK4 prmarily localized to the plasma membrane,and its myristoylation and palmitoylation modification sites were essential for maintaining proper subcellularlocalization.This study provides the firstcomprehensive genomicand functional characterizationof the BSK genefamilyincucumber,ofering critical insights into its regulatory mechanismsduring cucurbit crop development and stress adaptation.
